Getting enquiries

Why is my website not getting enquiries? 12 fixes that bring leads

A website that gets visitors but no calls usually has one of a few problems: the wrong visitors, a page that does not answer their question, or a contact step that is broken or hidden.

You paid for a website. Analytics says people visit. But the phone doesn't ring and WhatsApp stays quiet. This is one of the most frustrating problems a business owner can have, because it's invisible: nobody tells you why they left.

The good news is that the causes are predictable. These are the twelve I check, grouped by where the problem sits.

The short answer

A website gets visitors but no enquiries for one of three reasons: the wrong visitors(people not looking to buy, or from areas you don't serve), a page that doesn't answer their questions (no prices, areas, proof or clear next step), or a contact step that is broken or hidden (a form that never arrives, no WhatsApp button on mobile, a slow page). Fix the contact step first; it is the quickest win.

First, find where it breaks

Spend fifteen minutes on this before changing anything:

  1. Send yourself an enquiry through every form, and tap every call and WhatsApp button, on your own phone. Did it arrive? How long did it take?
  2. Open Google Search Console, Performance, and look at the searches bringing visitors. Are they people looking to buy your service in your area?
  3. Open your top pages on a phone, on mobile data. Can you see what you do, where, and how to contact you without scrolling?

Problems with who visits

1. Visitors are not looking to buy

Traffic to a blog post about “how to pack glassware” is nice, but those readers are mostly not hiring a mover today. Check that your servicepages get impressions for buying searches like “packers and movers in Kharghar price”, and that every blog post links clearly to the related service.

2. Visitors are from the wrong place

If you serve Navi Mumbai but the site ranks for searches in Delhi, visits won't become customers. Mention your areas in titles and headings, build pages for the areas you serve, and set service areas in your Google Business Profile.

3. The site only ranks for your own name

People who search your business name already know you; they want your number. New customers search for the service. If Search Console shows mostly brand searches, you need pages for each service and area, and to show up when people ask AI tools (getting recommended by ChatGPT). See why a website doesn't show on Google.

Problems with the page

4. It doesn't say what you do, where, in the first screen

“Welcome to Excellence” tells a visitor nothing. “Office and home shifting in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai, from ₹6,000” tells them they're in the right place in two seconds.

5. No prices at all

Price is the first question everyone has. With no figure, many visitors assume you're expensive and check a competitor who shows one. A “from” price or a range is enough.

6. No proof

Real reviews with names, photos of real work, the number of years in business, clients you have worked with. Stock photos and anonymous five-star quotes make people more suspicious, not less.

7. It doesn't answer the questions people ask before calling

Areas covered, timing, what's included, payment terms, guarantees. Put them in an FAQ on each service page. Every answered question removes a reason to leave.

8. It is slow on phones

If the page takes five seconds to appear on mobile data, a good share of visitors never see it at all. Aim for 90+ on mobile PageSpeed; see how to fix a slow website.

Problems with getting in touch

9. The form is broken, or lands in spam

This is more common than anyone admits. The hosting changed, an email password expired, or messages go to an inbox nobody checks. A form that fails silently looks exactly like a form nobody uses. Test it monthly.

10. No call or WhatsApp button on mobile

In India, most people would rather tap WhatsApp than fill a form. Keep a call and WhatsApp button visible on every page on phones, with a pre-filled message so they don't have to think what to type.

11. The form asks for too much

Name, phone and a short message is enough for a first contact. Every extra required field (company size, budget, address, how did you hear about us) loses people.

12. Slow replies

The website did its job if the enquiry arrived. If the reply comes the next day, the customer has already booked someone who answered in ten minutes. Get form enquiries on WhatsApp or as a phone notification, not only by email.

Measure enquiries, not visits

Set up Google Analytics to record a key event for each call click, WhatsApp click and form submission. Then you can see which pages and which searches bring enquiries, and stop guessing. On websites I build, these events are set up before launch, along with Search Console.

If you'd like a second pair of eyes, send me your website addressand I'll tell you what I'd fix first. I build business websites with all of this from the start, from ₹4,999; see freelance web development, or if you're nearby, website designer in Navi Mumbai.

Questions people also ask

Why does my website get traffic but no enquiries?

Most often the visitors are not looking to buy (for example they found a blog post or searched your brand for a phone number), the page does not show prices, areas or proof, or the contact form and WhatsApp button are broken or hard to find on a phone.

How can I get more enquiries from my website?

Put a call and WhatsApp button where thumbs reach on mobile, show starting prices and the areas you serve, add real reviews and photos of work, make one page per service and area that matches what people search, and test your contact form every month.

Should I show prices on my website?

Usually yes, at least a starting price or a range. Visitors who cannot see any price often leave to check a competitor who shows one. A “from ₹…” price filters out people who cannot afford you and makes the rest more confident to call.

How do I know how many enquiries my website brings?

Track clicks on call and WhatsApp buttons and form submissions as events in Google Analytics, and mark them as key events. Ask every new customer how they found you. Search Console then shows which searches bring those visitors.

How long does it take for a new website to get enquiries?

From Google, usually weeks to a few months, depending on competition in your area and how many useful pages the site has. Links from your Google Business Profile, Instagram and WhatsApp can bring enquiries from day one.
